  • In her story “Love of Dogs,” Amy recalls the dogs she and her family have owned over the years and the joy the dogs have brought her. The story is accompanied by an acoustic guitar rendition of “Bridge over Troubled Water.” On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with Wesley Angel of Leicester, who is a blacksmith. He talks about how he was introduced to the craft and its historical importance. He also shares his thoughts on the important role that arts and crafts have played in Appalachian culture and heritage. The interview is followed by “John Henry” by the Valley River Boys from Stecoah. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Boyd Daniel Lee of Franklin, born in 1929. His parents homesteaded in Lake Toxaway, and he talks about his family history and his early life in Transylvania and Macon Counties. “For the Beauty of the Earth” by the Butterpats follows the interview. On Stories of the Cherokee, Robert continues his conversation with Kathryn Littlejohn. She tells a Cherokee story about how legends came to be and how they were created to teach people lessons. “Beaver Dance” by Walker Calhoun follows the interview. Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is her childhood friend Kenny Buckner of Swannanoa. He discusses the benefits of growing up in the mill community around Beacon Blanket Manufacturing. “This is Home” by the Cockman Family comes after the interview, and the program concludes with “There’s a Star” by Terry Edwards.
