  • Amy takes you back with her story “October in the mountains,” about her memories of fall in the mountains when she was a child. The story is accompanied by “Edelweiss” by Jo Northup and Richard Birt. On Creative Corner, a tribute to Ray Menze from December 3, 2011, which covers several topics pertaining to the arts, is rebroadcast. The segment is followed by “Amazing Grace” by the Cockman Family. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Catherine Clayton of Cullowhee. Catherine talks about growing up in a mill village in Cateechee, South Carolina, coming to Cullowhee with her husband, and being a member of Cullowhee Baptist Church and how it has changed over the years. “Twilight is Stealing” by the Spirit-Filled Trio follows the interview. Black Roots of Appalachia features Victoria’s monologue “Box 41” telling the story of her family’s P.O. Box, the letters that came to them, and how those things have intertwined with her family’s history. The segment is followed by “Precious Memories” by Tennessee Ernie Ford. On Down Another Road, Judy talks again with musician Troy Harrison. He talks about his aunt Luetta singing “Little Margaret” and winning a contest hosted by Bascom Lamar Lunsford. He also discusses some of the styles and techniques of bluegrass banjo playing. “Rain & Snow” by Troy Harrison follows the interview, and the show closes with “A Music Man” by the Queen Family.
