Ba- /o nagsimula ang Digmaan sa Lalong Malaking Silanaang Asia, ito ang pangunahing sasakyang dagat ng Hukbong Karagatang Asiyatika na Inales. Noong ika 10 ng Disyembre, 1941, ang "Prince of Wales" at ang "Repulse" ay tumungo sa Golpo ng Siyam, upang hadlangan ang ating kilos na patungong katimugan. Nang ito ay mabatid ng ating mga pangmanman na ayroplano, ang ating mga Mababalasik na Agila ay dagli silang hinarap. Sila ay nagtangkang tumakas sa pamamagitan ng mga kanyong laban-sa- Ayroplano. Ngunit, sa tindi ng dagok ng ating mga Pangbomba, sila ay nalibing sa pusod ng dagat sa may gawing Malaya. T HE pride of the British Navy to the World was their unsinkable floating fortress,— the "Prince of Wales". lust before the Greater East Asia War she was sent out as the Flagship of the British Asiatic Fleet. On December 10, 1941, the "Prince of Wales" and the "Repulse" (32,000 tons) attem-oted to block the Japanese southward advance by steaming towards the Gulf of Siam. When this report came from our reconnaissance plane*, the Naval Wild Eagles dashed out to meet them. Under a hurricane of anti-aircraft fire they tried to make an escape but the punishment given by the lapanese Air Force being heavier, both these capital ships made their final plunge ot the bottom near the Malay Straits.

This edition of Japanese propaganda magazine, “Shin Seiki” (text in Tagalog and English), published by the Department of Information, was brought back to America by Carr and Ruth Hooper who were interned at Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manila, Philippines from January 1942 to February 1945. Hand-written notes made by Carr refer to several photos and captions. The camp, also known as the Manila Internment Camp, was run by the Japanese military during World War II and housed over 3,000 internees from January 1942 until February 1945.
