What amount of contiguous territory can be purchased by the government for the use of the Forest Reserve, west of the Blue Ridge? 2. How many acres could be secured in the Smoky Range of _, mountains? ; 3. How many settlers residing in that region own lands in tracts less than 300 acres? 4. How Much of the proposed territory has been denuded of the forests? 5. Has there been any measurement of the streams in Western North Carolina for the past 15 years, and if so, what does this measurement show with respect to decrease of volume of water within that territory. 6. Has any portion of eastern North Carolina been materially affected by freshets within that period, and if so, please state the extent of same. 7. Upon what grounds do you insist that the government should appropriate money out of the treasury of the United States for the purpose of purchasing a forest reserve in this particular section of the country. 8. What advantages, if any, does this immediate section pos-v sess over other sections of the country with respect to the establishment of forest reserves.
