Secretary Wilson's party «ps expect«% to arrive in Asheville by special car Wednesday afternoon and will he met at Biltmore by a reception Committee of the Appalachian National Park Association. The party will leave the train at Biltmore and will go first for a short drive over the Biltmore estate, returning to Biltmore they will be taken in a speeiall trolly car over the n^w trolly line to Overlook Park, returning from there to Battery Park, At nine o'clock Wednesday evening an reception will be given the Secretary and his party in the Music Room of the Battery Park, to which the pxiblic are invited. The party will leave Asheville early Thursday morning for Wayne sir ill e and points on the Murphy read. (H)

This 22-page series of letters discusses a planned visit with Secretary of Agriculture James Wilson. In January 1901, the Appalachian National Park Association presented a memorial to Congress. This proposal was referred to the Committee on Agriculture. On April 17, 1900, the officers of the Park Association appeared before the Agriculture Committee to present their case. The association had subsequent dealings with the Secretary of Agriculture from then until they disbanded in 1905.
