All taxes have been paid. All deeds are general warranty- deeds and purport to convey the title in fee. In view of the foregoing, and in view of Sections 428 and 430 of the Consolidated statutes of North Carolina, I am of the opinion that w» A. Early acquired fee simple unencumbered title to this tract* By deed duly executed and registered p, A. Early with the joinder of his wife conveyed this tract to the state of North Carolina. Description

This land title relates to tract 310 in Cataloochee. These documents are in the Love Family Papers in the archives of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Members of the Love family were prominent land holders in western North Carolina. Thomas Love (1765-1844), was a politician and land speculator whose holdings exceeded 6,000 acres of land, some of which would be purchased for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. His older brother, Robert Love (1760-1845) was a Revolutionary War veteran, surveyor, businessman and considered to be the founder of Waynesville.
