  • CDtJt-A George S. Powell, Esq., Asheville, N. C. Dear Si r:- Yours oi the 17th received. There is notning in tne press ais- patches sent out from this place with regard to the National park. We will never have such an opportunity to pass tne bill again. I have been ith Secretary Wilson and he says we must pass the bill this session, as the government has more surplus money now than it will have at any other session of Congress. I have been with Congressman Pearson all morning and we have gone over the matter thoroughly, and we can count on 140 members with a certainty, and no doubt can get many Eastern men who aie not incluoea yet in our calculations. Hr. Pearson has put nis wnole soul in this matter and is working night and bay like a trojan. He is planning now to have a dinner at the Raleigh some evening soon, when it hoped to have present Secretary Wilson and other gentlemen oi prominence, including members of the Agricultural committee. The situation is encouraging so far as the Senate is concerned. Very truly yours,
