  • people’s homes. Every fiber in me – mental, physical + spiritual – loathes the way I am forced to live. This of course is caused by the financial status. The children are goodness itself to me + I found myself an ungracious old woman. The verdict is: - Bitterness hurts yourself alone + real happiness comes from within. So I am trying to kill the one + create The other. Let’s hope I will succeed. The Stephens have bought the Titus house on State St. + Mrs. Kirkendal is to live with them. It is a big old house + Susie has all the lovely Mack furniture to put in it, but I would not change places with her. All her money is not giving her a home, nor a clear conscience. I am glad you are in Scout Work. One criticism I have with the Scout work is that there seems to be little co-operation between the boy + girl sections. One of the loveliest memories I have is of the [] with my brother. As I wrote him last week I can’t brag of my mental or spiritual strength but physically I am a tough old bird. I hope you all can profit from my weak- ness. If a world of love can help you have it now + always from your mother.
