Webster N.C. Mr James R Thomas December 8th 1888 Dear Jim Just as soon as you get this proceed to Charleston without loss of time and put in an entry on the Entry Takers book in accordaince with the inclosed scrip. This is by advice of W. B. Ferguson as a precautionary measure. It is thought the late decission of the Supreme court has knocked all these old time grants into kingdom come. I think the old Cathcart tract is all that is in danger in Swain but for other considerations

In this letter of December 8, 1888, James W. Terrell writes to Jim (James R. Thomas) instructing him to bid on a piece of property in Swain County. Terrell speculates the Cathcart land is endangered in Swain County and he has already secured most of the Cathcart and Indian Boundary land in their names.
