My very dear friend, Mrs. Slagle: - Your letters lift up my very soul, not because you say so many nice things about me, just as so many, many others are doing, and for which I feel so very unworthy. I am what I am only as God uses me to reveal some of His majesty, glory and power. He speaks through you my friend, I can feel your great spirit which cheers and helps me so much. To me there is nothing more sacred than a friend. I doubt if one can be a true friend, in the highest sense, who does not love Jesus. I never consented to have Judge Mc Carol’s letter printed but some friends asked me to let them see it, they got permissions from the Judge and then did as they pleased. I feel that I know you and Mr. Slagle through that dear handsome boy “Dick” I am very positive he reflects his parents, a boy like that could not come from just
