  • iHOriAS «£PUNCAN HIKE. JUPEKVISOK- MARCH 11 and 12 GREGORY BALD BY FORK RIDGE AND HANNAH MOUNTAIN We shall start this hike from Willie Myers' home and go up the creek for about a half mile and leisurely make camp. We'll probably want a comfortable one at this season of the year. The following morning we will leave all our camping equipment, taking only ponchos, canteen and lunch and hike up the Fork Ridge, the familiar trail, to Rich Gap. We may step east along the ridge a few hundred feet and see the old "gant-lot", then return and go about a mile around the mountain to Gregory Bald. After "filling up" with the scenery from this grassy dome we will continue west to Sheep-pen Gap where we will eat lunch spread about the large spring. After lunch we will follow the trail down tc Panther Gap, continuing along this ridge top, travelling north over High Top and on down to the head-waters of Tipton Sugar Cove Branch. We follow the branch for about a mile and eventually reach the Fork Ridge trail very near our camping place. Leave Dixie System at 1:00 p. m. Driving distance to Willie Myers' is forty-nine miles. Bring food for three meals and equipment for an open camp. Total hiking distance about 10 miles. Leaders: "DUTCH" ROTH (6-1895) M. L. BRICKEY (6-1518) 22
