  • beleiveing (sic) that he will Guard and protect us if we do so all will be right I think this next fall will wind up this war though it is hard to tell any thing about it. it may last a year longer I see no [ho]pe of our going to East Tenn although our Major says we will [?]at roasting ears in E Tenn this [fall] I was told by a commissioned officer confidentialy (sic) the other day that our Major had the assureance (sic) [of] taking his regiment to E T against [?] 4th of November next to vote President Linkon & Andrew Johnson of E Tenn is the nominees the Union Party direct your letters to Co (F) 3rd E Tenn Cav. 1st Brig. 4th Division. Cav. A.C. kiss and tell all the children howdy for me and tell them to good children til Pa comes hom. H.M.M
