Common soft rope is 50 cts per pound, chickens is worth 1.25 apiece, eggs one dollar a dozen and everything else high according, that is to eat or wear. As for fighting, I can not tell when we will fight. We are looking for a fight every day. We can see the Yankies a throwing up batteries and planting their big guns. Write soon and give me all the news that is interesting, so I must close for I am very weak and sick. Excuse bad writing for I am in no fix for writing. G. J. Huntley
