afford to lose. If he doesn’t get home for Thanksgiving perhaps he will come then. He says he can get a ride to & from Detroit & we can meet him then. The Smalls promised to look in on him occasionally and I tried to impress upon him that they were really sincere in their invitation for him to drop in any time. They love to have company. He is pretty lonely and they would be grand for him. Tried to get Tell but he & his wife were at Hot Springs so his daughter said. Drove past his house which is not far from the Smalls. They are in

In this letter of October 31, 1938, Cornelia writes her mother Laura Kephart to tell her about her trip to Cleveland to visit her husband’s side of the family, the Smalls. While there she visited with her nephew Buddy, Leonard’s son, and asks that Laura pass the letter onto Leonard and suggests that he visit the Smalls when he’s in town next time.
