  • Page 3 / WESTERN CAROLINIAN May 27th, 2011 SPORES WCU baseball sweeps The Citadel, heads to SoCon tournament From Staff Reports Junior Ross Heffley ig- nited a four-run bottom of - the eighth inning with a solo home run to left field as West- em Carolina completed the three-game Southern Confer- ence series sweep over The Citadel with a 12-8 victory last Saturday afternoon on Se- nior Day at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium. The sweep was WCUs first against a conference foe this season, while also mark- ing the Catamounts first over The Citadel since 2008. The Citadel closed the season with a 12-game losing skid, tying a school-record established back in 1967, Winners of three-straight, Western Carolina (22-29-1, 12-18 SoCon) will be seeded eighth in this weeks SoCon Tournament at Riley Park in Charleston, S.C.
