Senior Corey Muirhead led the Catamounts in scoring and tied his career high with 23 points and seven rebounds. Muirhead was one of three Catamounts in double figures. Senior David Berghoefer recorded 17 points for Western, while sophomore Trey Hopkins scored his season high 15. Despite not scoring a field goal in the final 3:18 of the game, Western was able to hold on and seal the win by shooting 10-13 from the free-throw line down the stretch. Muirhead, who also scored 23 points his freshman year, shot 9-16 from the field and scored 10 of the team's final 21 points in the first haf. The Catamounts, who jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on two 3- pointers and a free-throw by Hopkins, never trailed throughout the game. After taking the early seven point advantage, Davidson was able to cut the deficit to three (19-16), which would be as close as the Wildcats would get in the game. The Catamounts took their largest lead of the game when sophomore Negus McKenna hit a jump-shot which made the score 26-15. Davidson (13-8, 6-3 SoCon) was able to cut the Catamount lead to four, after consecutive 3-pointers by Matt McKillop and Jason Morton. On the ensuing possession, senior Jared Outing found Hopkins on a back-door cut for an easy lay-up with 38 seconds remaining in the half. The Catamounts were able to close out the first half with a 37-31 advantage over Davidson.
