With them came Margarita's mother who remained on the campus until October 24th. The Gomez brothers came here through their acquaintance with the father of Luis Larranaga, who was a student here in 1944. Others in the group came through the influence of friends and Mr. Clar- e n c e Chrisman, professor of modern language. The main purpose of the group is to gain knowledge of the English language. GRIFFIN Rain and mud ... the touch football program is having some trouble operating due to the rainy season here .... some interesting games though .... Boodleville and Second Robertson was some game ... the lead changed hands several times with Boodleville finally coming out on top by a 27 to 19 score McKenzie, star passer for Second hit Fountain for 20 yards and a T.D.; Deyermond for 45 yards and a score; Nims for 40 yards and 6 points . . . Boodlevivlle had every one passing and every body catching . . . Ellis to Barnhorst for 20 . . . .Brown to Gibson for 20 yards .... Barnhorst to Brown for a short 10 .... all were worth T.D.'s . . . Gibson intercepted a Second Robertson pass and raced 60 yards to score. First Madison won over Fourth Madison by 15 to 13 ... . two points came by virtue of a bad pass from center and a safety . . . Banks was standout for First . . . passing for one score and catching a pass from Dozier for another .... Baird and Gus helped the Fourth's cause but not enough. First Madison seems like the only team that gets dry days . . . beat Second Madison 19 to 12 on October 14 ... . again Banks and Dozier led the First to victory .... this was a battle of wits and ability between them and Teague and Welch of Second . . . First had the best men on the other end of the passes. With clear weather the Touch season will try to get along . . . some other activities are planned for the near future the handbook lists shuffleboard and basketball free throw for the Fall Quarter but this may be changed . . . any way keep in good heart, we may get something going yet.
