WCnewsmagazine 2.0 -Continuing to park an unregistered vehicle on campus after racking up a pile of parking violations. •Keeping a kitten in your room and not feeding it for several days, •Throwing a keg party in a room on the third floor of Walker Hall, -Drinking a beer in the lobby of Harrill hall. I don't think this is what is meant by "social drinking." •Buying an under-aged student alcohol and providing her drinks to the point of overdose. -Getting drunk and disruptive during a home football game. -Driving drunk. •Driving drunk with a revoked license, an open container by your side, fictitious plates and an expired inspection sticker on your vehicle. Might as well get busted for something big, right? -Destroying your girlfriend's property and assaulting her during band practice. Maybe he didn't like the song they were playing? -Driving drunk, having an accident, then fleeing back to your dorm room to hide out until it all blows over. All names have been changed to protect the innocent.** * *Everyone is presumed innocent, until proven guilty in a court of law. September 29, 2003: 1:18 A.M., Rangers assisted deputies and NC SHP in locating a student who had left the scene of an accident on NC 107. The student was found in his room in Robertson. Troopers arrested him and charged him with DWI. September 26, 2003: 7:30 A.M., a student on the 5th floor of Scott reported that his cell phone and wallet had been stolen from his room while he was sleeping. Rangers found that a $600 order had been placed on one of the victim's credit cards at 2:00 A.M. The investigation is ongoing. September 24, 2003: 10:08 P.M., Rangers referred two students to Judicial Affairs for under-age possession of alcohol. 11 :25 P.M., Rangers assisted deputies with a suspicious vehicle on Wayehutta Road, where a series of break-ins occurred the night before. Deputies charged one student with possession of marijuana and asked that the other two occupants of the vehicle be referred to Judicial Affairs. September 23, 2003: In connection with an incident of vandalism and assault at the football stadium on Saturday during band practice, officers secured warrants on a male non-student, charging the suspect with damage to property and assault and forwarded the warrants to Buncombe County for service. 3:00 P.M., Rangers arrested a male student for kicking a female student in a confrontation that occurred in front of Forsyth. 2:30 A.M., Rangers arrested a male student for DWI. September 22, 2003: 4:45 P.M., Parent reported that they had not had contact with their son for several months. The son is not a student at this time. Rangers found evidence that the son is living in Sylva. 10:45 P.M., Rangers assisted WCU EMS at Benton with an alcohol overdose. The victim, a female student, was transported to Harris Regional for treatment. A male student was referred to Judicial Affairs for purchasing and providing alcohol to the under-aged female. September 21 , 2003: 2:56 A.M., Rangers cited a male student for speeding 41 mph in a 20 mph zone. 7:50 P.M., Rangers cited a female non-student for speeding 47 mph in a 20 mph zone. 11 :19 P.M., Rangers received a report of a suspicious odor on the 3rd floor of Helder. Officers referred three female students to Judicial Affairs for alcohol violations. September 20, 2003: 12:50 A.M., Rangers responded to a disturbance on the 3rd floor of Walker Hall and confiscated a keg from a party there. The incident is referred to Judicial Affairs. 9:45 A.M., the band director reported that the boyfriend of a band member had interrupted practice, broken his girlfriend's cell phone and bumped into the band director. Charges are pending. 11 :35 P.M., residents on the 3rd floor of Walker reported that a cat was crying in a room. Rangers and Residential Living staff found a kitten inside a room that had not been fed in several days. Charges for animal cruelty are being considered. September 19, 2003: 6:27 P.M., Rangers cited a female student for speeding 50 mph in a 20 mph zone. 9:10 P.M., Rangers arrested a female student for DWI, driving while license revoked, open container, fictitious plates and expired inspection.
