  • newsmagazine WCs orts WCU Men's Cross Country - Ranked Ninth in Southeast Region Men and Women Race in the Great American Cross Country Festival, Sept. 27 Cullowhee, N.C.- In the latest southeast region men's cross country poll released by the U.S. Cross Country Coaches Association, Western Carolina's men's cross country team is ranked ninth. The team is coming off back-to-back first place finishes, in the Western Carolina Invitational and WCU Classic, to start the 2002 season. e We are excited that we are being seen as a top program in the southeast region, " said head coach Danny Williamson. We must continue to do the things that we are doing, as well as improve in order to continue to receive recognition. "The top three teams in our region are ranked in the top 30 national poll with N.C. State coming in at seventh, Duke 19th and William & Mary 26th. " Western's next meet will be at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Charlotte, N.C., on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 P. M.
