  • SATURDAY, NOV. 23, 1946 THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN PAGE THREE Engagement Of Seay, Hardy Announced Mrs. Velt Wilson of Sylva has announced the engagement of her sister, Miss Mary Margaret Seay, to Rudolph Warren Hardy, of Sylva. The wedding will take place on November 26 at the First Baptist church in Sylva. Miss Seay is a graduate of the Bryson City high school and attended Mars Hill college, where she was a member of Clio-Phi Literary society. She is now a senior at Western Carolina Teachers college. Mr. Hardy, son of Mr. and Mrs. H-S. Hardy, of Everetts, is a graduate of the School of Pharmacy of the University of North Carolina. While there he was a member of the Rho Chi honorary fraternity and president of Kappa Psi fraternity. Since his graduation he has been employed as a pharmacist in Sylva. you are lacking in attention, take it from me, get a red sweater. Vogue says tighter and shorter, and tucked in for appeal. Short- sleeved cardigans did not make the bang that had been predicted. Knitted blouses and sweaters with butterfly sleeves are to make future headlines. If you know a new way to wear sweaters, such as upside down, backward, wrong side out, or with the sleeves down the back, please drop me a card, and the honor will be yours. Louise Edwards Becomes Bride Miss Louise Edwards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Edwards of Bryson City, became the bride of Oliven Thomas Cowan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Cowan of Lowell, in a double ring ceremony, Saturday afternoon, October 19, at the First Baptist church, Ringgold, Ga. The Rev. Alfred L. Pullen performed the ceremony. The church was decorated with greenery, chy- santhemums and asters. The bride wore an aqua dress with brown accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias. Her maid of honor was Miss Joyce Cherry of Chattanooga, Tenn. Charles Frazier of Canton served as best man. FANCY FADS Sweaters are on the beam again. With the frosty mornings and cold nights, it just wouldn't be right without sweaters of all types—and don't we have them? Jim McRainey made me promise to mention the red sweater that he has been wearing since last Wednesday. He also said to notice that Madrie has one just like it. Jean and Chuck have given blue a break, and both are wearing blue V-necked sweaters. Does this give any other loving couples an idea? Clark Pennell has a new yellow sweater that is just luscious, and, incidentally, it was a birthday gift. Those yellow socks came with it. Have you noticed Brownie and Margie's socks the same color as their sweaters? Identical shades. Figured sweaters are still the rage. Peanut Cotter and Clara Padgett are both wearing the modern version of "Reading, riting and rithmetic." June Wright has a sweater complete with the scales, just a song as I always say. That striped cardigan of Virginia Cope's is unique. Pete Thompson and Bobby McGinn are all in the red.
