Right now, wrestling is having to cope with many injuries. Two of the most notable have to be Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker. Of course, one can't forget Droz (who may never walk again), Test (dislocated disk), Bulldog (back problems), Stevie Richards (broken foot), and of course Eddie Guerrero, who dislocated his shoulder on Smackdown last week. Some of these WWF superstars are pretty high up on the success ladder, but even without these guys, WWF has simply put on great show after great show, with no signs of slowdown. How can the WWF have such success without many top players? The answer is simple. The WWF knows who to push, when to push them, and what the fans want. Last Monday night was a classic example of WWF booking professionalism at its finest. The main event was a 10-man tag match pitting the teams of HHH, X-Pac, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, and Chris Benoit (oh, forgot to tell you that the WCW-Four went heel last Monday) vs. Cactus Jack, The Rock, Rakishi Phatu, and Too Cool. Yes, you heard me correctly, Scotty Too Hotty and Grand Master Sex(a)y, came out in support of The Rock and Foley. And this time, they didn't come just to get their collective asses kicked. Both members of Too Cool displayed great athleticism and power, even when up against these seasoned veterans. But why did the WWF push these guys? This answer is simple as well. The fans love Too Cool. Throw Rakishi in the mix, and the fans just can't get enough of Too Cool. Hell, I look forward to seeing Too Cool in wrestling on Monday nights. It just shows that WWF is looking at what the fans want, not just what certain powerful figures want. That is the bulk of the problem in WCW. Four or five guys in charge, doing with the company what they will for the benefit of their own wallet, ego, etc. Factor in employee walkouts, multiple changes in leadership, a few injuries, and a packed locker room, and you have the recipe for disaster in the WCW. Many of these problems can easily be remedied by just listening to the fans. The fans don't want WWF rip-offs. If they want to see the WWF, all they have to do is lip 6 Bsaacn? to work with th? The fans don't want to see a company that doesn't give the younger guys much of a chance. It seems that unless you are nWo or over the age of 40, you just can't get a push that lasts. Even Goldberg, WCW's poster boy of the 90s, lost his push after Kevin Nash booked him to lose to none other than Kevin Nash. And with Nash out of the way for a little while with a broken ankle, I'm scared to think of what little schemes he's hatching in that swelled head of his. By the way, along the lines of listening to the fans, the PWF - the Polygon Wrestling Federation - will be making its Spring semester return this Monday night, February 14, with "Tough Love." This rag-tag group of wrestlers will be exciting Cullowhee crowds on Monday nights with "Monday Night Mania," with encore presentations on Wednesday "Insider" and Sunday "Showdown." Servo Says: "Triple H, you can bring out X-Pac, Dean Malenko, Chris Beniot, Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Uranus, it doesn't matter what their names are!" You gotta love how The Rock can just use a catch phrase (or five catch phrases), and it seems like they never get old.
