  • news February 10,1999 February 2 Officers checked on the welfare of a student in Helder at the request of a concerned friend at 10:35 p. m. February 3 A student reported that his car had been damaged when kicked by a female student at Reid Gym on 2/2. A student reported that she had acci- dently left her ATM card at the machine at Wachovia Bank on 1/27 and someone had removed $40 from her account. February 4 Officers investigated a traffic accident near the Baptist Student Union and charged with driver with failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 9:15 a. m. Officers responded to the 3rd floor of Walker to assist Housing staff with a domestic disturbance at 9:00 p. m. A male non-student was banned from campus. February 5-7 As a result of a follow-up investigation, officers found that a male involved in a domestic disturbance in Walker last week had criminal charges pending for violence in another county. The subject had been banned from campus. A student reported that her car had been damaged by a hit & run driver at Benton at 11:30 a. m. on 2/5; however, officers examining damage believe that the damage occurred when the vehicle ran over an object. A student reported that he had left a television in his room in Benton when he moved out in the fall and now his former roommate claims not to have the TV. The investigation is continuing. Officers assisted Housing personnel with a party on the 5th floor of Walker Hall where students and visitors were violating alcohol laws and being disruptive at 12:14 a. m. on 2/7. Officers counseled the visitors and explained rules to them. locate his daughter's car on campus at 12:40 a. m. on 2/8. Officers found the car and found the student in a room in Leath- erwood, asked her to call home, and escorted her from the building. Officers stopped a vehicle occupied by two non-students and three students at 1:40 a. m. on 2/8. The two non-students were banned from campus for possession of marijuana (a very small amount). February 8 On 2/6 at 10:00 p. m., Housing staff in Harrill reported problems with two local high school students who kept entering the residence hall. The suspects were gone when officers arrived. On 2/8 at 1:45 a. m., officers assisted the WCU EMS team with a student with a cut hand in Albright. The student's hand had been injured in a fight at Sneaky Pete's.
