WCU Kicks Off 1994 Homecoming Weekend Alumni and friends of Western Carolina University will return to campus for two days of fall fun, food, football and feet-moving music as WCU holds its annual Homecoming on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22. Homecoming '94 activities will include a golf tournament, a picnic on the lawn, a concert by popular beach music band General Johnson and The Chairmen of the Board, a fireworks display, several special reunions, ceremonies renaming a campus building in honor of Western's recently retired chancellor, and an alumni dinner and dance. The cornerstone of the weekend is a Southern Conference football game pitting Western's Catamounts against the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. During halftime of the game, the new Homecoming queen will be crowned, and the winner of Western's Distinguished Alumnus Award will be honored. Activities will tee off at 10:30 am Friday, Oct. 21, with the annual Alumni Golf Tournament, to be held at Maggie Valley Country Club. Homecoming Central Station, an information and hospitality center for the weekend's activities, will be open in the Cherokee Room of A.K. Hinds University Center from 5 to 10 pm Friday. The annual Homecoming Festival on the Lawn will kick off at 5 pm with a picnic dinner, fun and games ..., a pep rally and the presentation of the 1994 Homecoming Court. Cost of the picnic dinner will be $2 for children, $4.50 for adults, and free to WCU "Homecoming," Continued on Pai Demetris Chambers of Gastonia.
