  • Volume 57 Number 13 Exhibition game to follow football Western Carolina University's men's basketball team will play its second and final exhibition game on its preseason schedule Saturday following the WCU-Appalachian State football game. Coach Greg Blatt's 1991-92 Catamounts will host the Stockholm Capitols of Sweden at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday in the Ramsey Center. There will be no admission charge as the game is open to the public. It will be the final tuneup for the Catamounts as they will open regular season play a week later, Saturday, Nov. 23, against Eckerd College of Florida in the Ramsey Center. The Stockholm Capitols play in the highest classification of European basketball and are currently leading the Swedish Elite Division. The Catpitols are a new team that was created from two of last season's Swedish teams, Soder-Basket and Centrall. The Catamounts edged Soder-Basket, 78- 76, last November in the Ramsey Center. Four Starters off that Soder-Basket team are playing for the Stockholm Capitols. Guard Carl Woodard and 6-6 forward Arlid Beck each scored 23 points against the Catamounts last season and Beck was the game's leading rebounder. Both are expected to start Saturday. Saturday's game will be the eight game in a 10-game tour for the Capitols. Prior to their arrival in Cullowhee, they will have played UT-Chattanooga, College of Charleston, August College, South Carolina-Aiken, Appalachian State, Virginia Military, and East Tennessee State. After WCU, they will play at Furman and North Carolina A & T State before returning to Sweden.
