  • The Western Carolinian Page 9 Thursday, February 2,1989 Mm® €MM to Premiere in New Auditorium Christy Gremillion by Bill Mclntire STAFF WRITER The revival of Jesus Christ Superstar will premier in the new Hoey Auditorium in Cullowhee, NC on Feb. 21, 1989at7:30p.m. The play will run each night at 7:30 p.m. through Feb. 25, 1989 with a matinee at 2:00 p.m. on Feb. 25. Tickets are $25 each for the night of the premiere. This includes a champagne reception after the the play with the Chancellorof Western Carolina University, Myron Coulter. The tickets for the remaining performances will be $10 for adults, $5 for students, and groups of 10 adults, $5 each. For ticket information call the Ramsey Center at 227- 7722. WCU Concert Choir Turns "Pop" For Benefit Variety Show The Western Carolina University Concert Choir will forgo its usual serious musical repertoire in favor of a "pop" sound in its semi-annual variety show, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3. The variety show will be held in the recital hall of the Music/English Building on the WCU campus. Choir members will perform novelty selections by P.D.Q. Bach, tunes by the Everly Brothers, and a variety of love ballads and gospel songs. Solos, duets, quartets, men's and women's ensembles and other choral groups will be in the spotlight, performing musical styles ranging from barbershop quartet to contemporary Christian. Tickets are $3 for adults and $1.50 for students. Tickets may be purchased in advance from choir members or may b obtained at the door on the night of the show. Proceeds from the variety show will benefit Concert Choir projects, including the annual fall tour. For additional information, contact the Western Carolina University Music Department at 227-7242. There will be more said about the play and the multitude of people involved in the coming issues of The Western Carolinian. The three featured today are: Aaron "Schuyler" Augar, a Radio and Television major who is a veteran of community theatre. He enjoys people with a sense of humor. Sean Bridgers is a Speech and Theatre Arts ma jor who has empathy for Judas. Sean says, "Superstar is a celebration of life, the re-telling in modem terms of a part of the greatest story of Western Civilization." Christy Gremillion is an athlete who enjoys swimming and volleyball. She is from California and finds this area "very pretty". She sees good in other people and is known for her thoughtfulness of others.
