  • Organizations and Events Feature Film The feature movie this week is The Rose. Bette Midler makes her film debut portraying a rock star caught up in the emotional turmoil of a successful career and a decaying private life. This is not just another rock music movie with over-extended concert footage. There is an excellent story base to go along with some good rock and roll sequences. The show is in Hoey Auditorium Friday night at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $1.50 for students and $2.00 for non-students. Omega Psi Phi The Theta Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., would like to congratulate their new 'Q-ettes.' Ms. Jackqueline McLaughin, Ms. Wanda Pettiford, and Ms. Kim Hayes. We, The Fraternity and Little Sisters would like to welcome you into our family. Pottery Exhibit Chelsea Gallery will feature the traditional pottery of Lanier Meaders, September 16, 1980 thru October 9, 1980. A native of White County, Georgia, Lanier Meaders embodies a local folk tradition which spans a one hundred and fifty year history. At the turn of the century, White County was an important center for the production of utilitarian ware. Lanier inherited the family pottery in 1967 and is the only member of the Meaders family making ware today, and of the nineteen known kiln sites in the county, his is the only one still in use. The importance of the Meaders tradition has been affirmed by numerous exhibitions and articles, and by the enthusiastic partonage of the Smithsonian Institution. In addition to adding some examples of Lanier's face jugs to their permanent collection, the Smithsonian has produced a film which records the history and the character of the Meaders Pottery. With this renewed interest, there is no feeling that the end of this tradition is in sight. A reception will be held in honor of the artist in the Chelsea Gallery, Tuesday, September 16, at 3:00 p.m. The Smithsonian film will be shown following the reception at 4:00 p.m. in the Cherokee Ro vm adjacent to the Gallery. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. Psych Club The C.W. Mann Psychology will present Brother Al Behm on Wednesday, October 1, 1980 at 7:00 p.m. in K-104. Brother Behm will talk on "SEX THERAPY."
