  • h»HM?M M3UL: The 17th annual Wrnational Festival ^hn_: Thursday April ij> 696 ii^ie.: The [awn in front °f the Bell Tower A and ^dties__: Live dancing Featured special guest at the 17th Annual International Festival, Gakunju "Billy" Kaigwa will be carving a wooden sculpture in front of Dodson Cafeteria, Thursday April 11th from 10:30 to 11:30 and then again from 3:00 to 4:00. He will also be giving a lecture from 1:00 to 2:00. Kaigwa works in stone, wood, metal welding, resin/fiberglass and is currently learning techniques in casting bronze, silver and iron at the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture in Trenton, New Jersey. He has been in Trenton since September 1994 on a two year internship program. A sponsorship landed Kaigwa in Carrara, Italy for one year where he attended the Accademia di Belle Arti. Carrara is where such artist's as Michal Angelo and Henry Moore produced some of their greatest works. Kaigwa has some home ties in Cullowhee. Themina Kaderbhai a graduate assistant in the Art Department used to teach Kaigwa at Lenana High School in Nairobi, Kenya.
