  • Page 14/THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN/December 6, 1979 NORML From Page 1 The ultimate goal is legalization according to Stroup. He sees marijuana as a crime that hurts an one, unlike crinimal offenses. "Victimless crimes, and that's what smoking pot is, a crime against no one but yourself." Legalization is 8-10 years away according to Stroup because the public has to accept the idea that marijuana is "not as bad as they think." Stroup said the main argument by the opposition seems to always be their concern over the effects of marijuana on minors. In his lecture, Stroup pointed out that this was not the argument as everyone is against the use of drugs by minors. His argument dealt with the fact that through legalization, some sort of age restrictions can be applied as there are with other recreational drugs such as cigaretts and alcohol. Throughout his stay, Stroup's political philosophy leaped out at those around him. Jumping from topics as to Kennedy being greatly supported in Washington, D.C. because "he understood" the system, to his amazement of GOP presidential candidate's John Connally's ability to raise over $6 million already. For an attorney who admits that he is a "young male marijuana smoker," Keith Stroup seems to be faring all right. Starvin's From Page 1 the 4-11 p.m. shift. . In the process of McHone's firing, the former manager was also denied a $300 bonus McHone had promised while Mosher was still working for him in Myrtle Beach, SC. By the way Mosher also noted that patrons will notice a new sign at Starvin' Marvin's; one that he ordered. First on her list to Santa! Give her a dazzling look for fun and fashion with sparkling Accents jewelry. It's simple, classic designs will make her Christmas special. $3.50 to $12.50. {J\cCXA/&&- ■ksBBBl Co<wL»- Available At University Book & Supply Store Mon-Frl 8-5 Sat 10-1 © 1979 Hallmark Cards.
