  • PAGE 12/THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN/JANUARY 18, 1979 The Gallery Owner revamps Bel Harbor Bel Harbor restaurant soon will be known as The Gallery after having undergone a process of expansion and remodeling. Owner Bob Dula has opened the clow nslairs portion of the restaurant as a gamcroom, art gallery (from which the restaurant gets its new name), and additional dining an Foosball tables and pinball machines, one of which is electronic, have been installed for customers' entertainment. I lie walls and a display case will feature local artists' work, thus giving these artists a chance to display and perhaps sell some of their works. Dula anticipates to display a variety of paintings, sketches, and photography as well as the painting of a mural. The first display of craftwork will be several pieces of pottery by Steve Blalock. The new dining area will accomodate 22 people. Customers will be able to buy snacks in this area. Also, for the customers' convenience a Pepsi machine will be installed. The menu has been altered with seafood and a few other items being replaced by pizza and chili. Also offered is a variety of sandwiches such as "Porky's Delight," "the Turtleboy," "Swiss Alp," and of course the ever popular cheeseburger. Dula says his own favorite is the double cheeseburger, which includes chili. Dula is planning to acquire a brown-bagging license in the near future. Having bought the restaurant when he was only 20, now at age 24 Dula is excited over the change to the Gallery. His family has proved to be a big help in the remodeling; his mother is making curtains as well as new uniforms for the waitresses. Also, his wife Cindy is one of the eight employees who will be working with manager John Cooke. Dula is an auto racing enthusiast and graduate of the Bill Scott Racing School. He hopes to one day be a professional driver. At the present however Dula enjoys working on his Mercedes diesel and an MG Midget rebuilt by him. Another of his hobbies is photography and camera repair. Dula also enjoys water skiing and snow skiing. Dula is originally from Marianna, Florida, but now is proud to call Cullowhee his home. He attended UNCA before going into real estate. Through his ventures in real estate, he acquired a restaurant in Asheville. After selling out and thus dissolving that partnership, Dula bought Bel Harbor at the tender age of 20. IT ONLY COMES ONCE A YEAR & here it is...
