Billy Boyd hitting .361 and Wayne Tolleson hitting .325. Both Jim Reinicker and Don Williams, both used in selected games, also have hefty averages. Reinicker has hit .424 through 13 games and Williams has hit .364 in five games. Ebersole has already tied the single season home run record set by Ken Morgan in 1962 with seven homers to date, Ebersol had two against VMI, both going over 412-feet. Sophomore Rick Adair leads the team in victories with a 4-2 record, but freshman Harwell leads the team's ERA department having given up just five earned runs in 30 innings of work. Jerry Warren went the distance for the first time in his collegiate career Monday with a 9-0 shutout of VMI in the first game of the doubleheader and Danny I in Ha id improved his record to 2-0 by going the distance in the second game. Western travels to Erskine Wednesday for a single game before meeting The Citadel. WCU then goes to East Tennessee State on Monday. league and in sixth place. However, three of the teams above them in the standings already have at least three losses—The Citadel is third with a 6-3 record, and Furman and Davidson are tied for fourth with 4-4 and 3-3 records, respectively. Appalachian State is currently 6-0 and leading the league and Marshall is 7-1 and in second place. ASU and Marshall meet this Saturday and the Mountaineers still must play WCU twice later in the season. With the balance showing in the conference. Western still has a good shot at making a run at the title.
