How else are we to be sure that we are representing the students properly?" With upcoming elections on the horizon and the need for student involvement in many local area politics, the conference members discussed plans for coordinated efforts in voter registration. A proposed drive possibly headed by full- time student interns, will attempt to coordirite student voter registration. It will concern itself in high schools, community colleges, and the UNC system. The drive's directors will be the N.C. Student Legislature, the N. C„ Comprehensive Community College, the Youth Council of N. C„ the State Student Council and the N. C. Association of Student Governments. The partisan groups, such as the Young Democrats Club, will be excluded from this drive." President MikeBroome(ASU) told of a law suit against the Board of Elections of Watagua County. The suit will deal with the refusal of the board to allow ASU students to register in that county. The outcome of such a suit could affect others in the UNC system with similar handicaps. The desire to establish a uniform Bill of Rights was mentioned. This proposed protective document has been an idea prevalent in the association for a number of years. It is the hope of the organization that the bill will be adopted by the UNC Board of Governors. Representatives from Dr. William Friday's office, UNC- Charlotte, East Carolina University, UNC-Chapel Hill, Appalachian State University, North Carolina State University and Western Carolina University attended the conference.
