The College Shop has served the student body for years, and the service and friendliness of the staff have added an air of personal interest to such a menial task as buying a copy of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. The manager, Mr. Robert C. Foxx, has been with the Student Union for over a year and enjoys his work very much. He likes working with and a- round students and he himself is a graduate of this college. His hobbies include fishing and bird hunting. When asked about the new Student Union he had this to say, "It will be a tremendous advancement to serving the students. We are in a real bind at present because of the lack of space. The new Student Union will alter this problem. We now carry on a group service to the students whereas in the new building we can serve the individual. There is no display area here now; however, the students receive the best service possible. In addition to this, the location of the present shop is a disadvantage. Seventy - five percent of the girls are not near enough to the Student Union. Fifty per cent of the day students don't even know where it is. They are getting short changed. Another thing that now creates a problem is the parking facilities. Next year the parking problem will will be even worse. The new Student Union will be great because of the location. The prices will not be marked up to any extent and we will still have coffee at five cents per cup." Mrs. Eula Barnes has been with the Student Union for six years. Her interest are cooking and reading. She had this to She enjoys sewing, good cooking, house cleaning, 4-H work and community work. Her coming to our campus was the result of her doctor's prescription. The work settles her nerves] Barbara Brown, Mrs. Alma Henson and Mrs. Presssley offer hours of service to the student body. Helen say about the new Student Union, "I hope we soon get it. The extra space is needed and it will be nice to get off the hill. With all the extra items that can be carried, the students will benefit greatly." Mrs. Ethel Brown has been with the staff for 14 years. Her interests are flowers, sewing, quilting, and music. "Generally, she says, the students are very courteous. She feels that the Student Union "will be an asset to the college." She also thinks the new Student Union will be appreciated by the students. Mrs. Alma Henson has been with the Union for two years. "It will be a great help to the college campus. The accommodations will be so much better and up to date." She also says she "likes to work with the students." She treats them as she would her own children. Mrs. Helen Pressley has been working here for over a year and like the others, loves her work. She enjoys working with the students and meeting the new ones as they come in. She says the students are nice and she feels the attitude of the workers toward the student is as important as the students' attitude toward them. She had this to say about the new Student Union. "It will be a big help in serving the students. We can serve more and have a larger stock from which to serve. The students will more than likely show a greater interest in the Student Union." Mrs. Blanche Wike is a newcomer to our campus. She likes her work and likes the students Mrs. Ethel Brown ... 14 years of service. very much. She enjoys cooking, music, and sewing. She feels that the new Student Union will be a great asset. The fact that it will be off the hill and in a new location is the biggest thing. She says she can remember when she went to school here that the Student Union then was not worth walking up the hill to get to. The only place the day students could eat was in a professor's classroom next to the radiator.
