Co-ed Beauty "The Visiting Committee in | the Elementary School Accrediting Process" was published by the Committee on Elementary Education of the Southern Association, the accrediting organization for both public and private schools and institutions of higher learning in 11 Southern states. Durell Ruffin. executive secretary of the Committee on Elementary Education, said the new publication establishes guidelines and offers specific suggestions for committees which visit elementary schools to determine whether they should be accredited. Dr. Burchfiel was the only person from North Carolina on the nine-person committee composed of college and university professors, state department of education representatives and school administrators. Great things are happening at WESTERN CAROLINA COLLEGE We are pleased to have had a part in the growth of Western Carolina College. Our construction work at this fine college includes: Cafeteria Addition, Buchanan Dormitory, Laboratory School, Laboratory School Gymnasium and Shop, Faculty Housing, Moore Dormitory renovation, Swimming Pool and an addition to Training School. MISS BETTY WALTERS This week's Co-Ed Beauty is Miss Betty Walters, a Junior from Huntersville, N. C. Betty is an Elementary Education major who lists drawing and dancing as her hobbies. She is active in Sigma Kappa Sorority and is serving as her sorority's Registrar this year. Betty is also Secretary of the Junior Class. Tonight pretty blue-eyed Betty will be presented, along with the other members of the Homecoming Court, at the Coronation Ball.
