  • COOPERATIVE EDUCATION l& * WHAT IS COOPERATIVE EDUCATION? Cooperative Education (Co-op) is an academic program that allows students to integrate academic study with career-related work experience. Students are assisted in gaining employment that allows them to: - explore or test their career decision - gain a competitive edge in the job market - earn academic credit - earn money to help finance education grow in self confidence and maturity Successful completion of Co-op results In students being more marketable upon graduation. HOW DO YOU BECOME A CO-OP PARTICIPANT? All udergraduate students with sophomore status and a minimum 2,0 grade point average and selected graduate programs are eligible to participate. To apply fa positions you must come by the Co-op Office in 6 McKee Building and complete the Student Application. Since deadlines for Spring positions occur early in the Fall, Applications should be completed by October 15, 1985. NO STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS OR OTHER INFORMATION FROM THE CO-OP OFFICE UNLESS AN APPLICATION IS ON FILE. Upon completion of the application students must attend a Resume Writing/Interview Skills Workshop to prepare a resume. Students then begin the competitive process of applying for various positions. WHAT ARE THE ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS OF CO-OP? All students receive three (3) hours of upper level elective credit for completion of Co-op. To receive this credit a term report along with a worklog must be completed and handed in at the required Post-Assignment Interview Session upon returning to campus. WHAT TYPES OF POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE? Examples of the types of positions available are: Accounting Assistants Chemistry Technicians Child Care Workers Computer Programmers Finance Assistants Graphic Designers Manager Trainees Manufacturing Trainees Marketing Assistants Nursing Assistants Office Managers Psychgologist Assistants Quality Control Technicians Speech Therapists WHAT COMPANIES OFFER CO-OP PROGRAMS?
