Outdoors seminars offered in canoeing, climbing, kayaking A. K. Hinds University Center in conjunction with Cullowhee Wilderness Outfitters will present three seminars and two camping and canoe trips for Fall quarter. Seminars include Whitewater Canoeing, Technical Rock Climbing, and Whitewater Kayaking with a backpacking trip in the Smokies and a canoe camping trip to the New River. Each seminar will provide instruction for beginners while offering a variety of experiences for seasoned campers. The Whitewater canoeing clinic will open on October 2 and 3. Registration fee is $5. A trip to the New River is planned for October 22, 23, and 24. Climbing is a sport we learned as infants, but we tend to forget the technique as we grow older. On November 12, 13, and 14, your skills can be sharpened during the Technical Rock Climbing Seminar. Backpacking the Western North Carolina mountains in the winter is especially nice because you leave the crowds behind. On November 19, 20, and 21 a trip is planned for those interested in learning some basic techniques of winter camping. To register for any of the above seminars, come by the Information Desk, A.K. Hinds University Center. Seminar outlines are available at the Information Desk or Wilderness Outfitters, in the Alpine Building, Cullowhee, NC. Instruction will be by Roger Roundtree, well known outdoorsman and owner of the Wilderness Outfitters. RADAR? , Parametric Radar Receiver by Electrolert (Reg. $109.9iT Compact, durable and reliable.
