  • WCU Administration The bosses at WCU Dr. Glenn Stiilion holds the position of Vice Chancellor for Student Development at WCU. Prior to coming to Western, he held various administrative positions at the University of Alabama, Florida State University, Michigan Technical University and the University of New Mexico. Dr. H. F. Robinson has been Western Carolina University's Chancellor since June 1, 1974. Prior to coming to Western he served as Provost of Purdue University (1971-1974) and Vice Chancellor of the University System of Georgia (1968-1971). From 1945 until 1968, he held a variety of positions at North Carolina State University, ranging from Assistant Professor to Administrative Dean of Research. In 1966-67, he served as Executive Director of the President's Science Advisory Committee Panel on the Worl Food Supply for President Johnson. As such, he put together a report which is now widely known as an accurate and valuable assessment of the current food shortage and population problems facing the world. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Research on College Instruction of Science and Mathematics, having served for two years as the first Chairman of the Board. He is the Chairman of the Joint Advisory Committee between The University of North Carolina. The Community College System, and the Private Institutions; a member of the board of directors of both C.J. Harris Community Hospital in Sylva and Saint Joseph's Hospital in Asheville; as well as serving with a great many other organizations and committees on both the national and state levels. A native of Bandana, North Carolina, Dr. Robinson attended Mars Hill College; received the bachelor's and master's degrees in Plant Breeding from North Carolina University; and the Ph.D. degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Nebraska. He is married and has two children. He is a member of a number of organizations including the American Association for Higher Education and the American College Personnel Association. He is also quite active in various civic affairs in the local area. A native of Ben, Oregon, he attended the University of New Mexico and received his Ph.D. from Florida State University. Dr. Robert E. Stoltz is WCU's Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Before coming to Western, he served as director of the Southern Regional Office of the College Entrance Examination Board. Prior to service with the Board he was chairman of the psychology department at Southern Methodist University. He has served as consultant to organizations such as the Dallas Cowboys, franchises in the National Hockey League, as well as a number of advertising and law enforcement agencies. As such, he oversees WCU's Development Office, Public Information Office and Alumni Affairs. Since joining the University staff, he has held a number of administrative posts including head of the music department and acting dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. He has taught at the University of Georgia. Boston University, Cadek Conservatory of Music and others. He graguated from the University of Chattanooga and North Texas State University and received the Ph.D. in music from Florida State University. Dr. Dooley is active in the Music Educators National Conference. He is married and has two children. Dr. Charles Joseph Carter is WCU's Vice Chancellor of Business Affairs. He came to Western from the University of South Florida, where he served as assistant vice president for academic affairs. He has also held administrative positions at Wofford College and has served as news editor at WSPA radio and television in Spartanburg. A native of Gaffney, South Carolina, Dr. Carter graduated from Wofford College and received his r-h.D. degree from Florida State University.
