  • W' The Fourth Annual Conference of the National Safety Council By ARTHUR G. POUNSFORD The Fourth Annual Congress of The National Safety Council was held in the Bellevue Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia on October 19th, 20th and 21st. Our General Manager had expected to attend and at the eleventh hour was detained through stress of other business and the representation of our Company was turned over to the Chairman of the Safety Committee, who will in a meagre way attempt to give you some of the ideas brought out by this conference of Safety Engineers and representatives of Industrial Corporations, who are interested in the National, and International, Campaign Safety, instituted runders of the National the a fen- No some? The Medical Sectional Meeting ery interesting in the discussion of pros and cons on medical examination and supervision of employees but we will pass over this to the General Round Table Meeting at which manv good ideas were brought out. The organization of a Safety Campaign was discussed from the beginning .to the most eom- nlicated type of organizations, while all of the points were not applicable to our special conditions, some we are going to put in practice at an early date. The organization of Safety Squads, through election by employees, was brought up. This is described under a separate heading and our elections will take place shortly. The requiring of men to know Safety Rules, both departmental and general, has. become almost, universal and we expect to attempt something along this line. Written reports by members of the committees are also required and this feature already instituted in onr-eommittee, will soon be adopted by our Safety ulle Hoard* should formation on subjects i Safety and suggest- Ing' oss hat ble to bri occurred lg out at this alu ve contain s some 'tea* in ; general \ vav. the AM mpaign n tcfot'dance WORK, ust be with HAR sec tad \ vith that in vi }w we • Fi •st" rci other pei and. tl i, an atte • IvNTS. ion, Etc. tod of rough npt to A W ise „
