Amy begins the show with her story “Marigolds and Zinnias,” remembering how her mother planted these flowers every year. The story is accompanied by “Almost Home.” On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with Ronnie Carpenter of Robbinsville. He grew up in Fontana when it was a resort town, and he talks briefly about his youth, shares some stories about his great-grandfather and grandfather, and discusses his family history. The interview is followed by “Old Ruben” by the Queen Family. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Marilyn Cole, who continues talking about extension work in western North Carolina and the many things that have been accomplished by the extension service. “Will there be any Stars in My Crown” by Julia Thompson follows the interview. On Stories of the Cherokee, Shawn talks with Nadia Dean, an author who recently published a book entitled A Demand of Blood: the Cherokee War of 1776. This is first of a two part interview; this time she talks about her past work as a journalist and how she developed an interest in Cherokee history through genealogical research, as well as the research she did for the book. Flute music is by Matthew Tooni. On Down Another Road, Judy talks once more with Worley Capps, who tells stories about his father’s sheep and learning to identify trees. The interview is followed with “Lonely Yukon Stars” by the Butterpats, and “Thank You for Your Blessings” by the Cockman Family ends the show.
