OrXf^^* There were upwards of eighty men present at this Convention and a National Association was formed called^Tlie Appalachian National Park Association". The endeavor of this Associa tion will he to have Congress appoint a Commission to investi gate the feasibility and necessity of establishing a Forest Reservation and National Park in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. This Association has already gone about their work in an organized manner and that they are meeting With hearty support in their great undertaking, the many articles appearing in the press of the country fully illustrate. Various Committees have been appointed for carrying otit the different branches of work,including a Committee on Membership, Committee on Rays and Means, Committee on Petitions and (K Memorials and 5%&t Committee on Publicity and Promotion. The Secretary of the Association states that the greatest enthusiasm and hearty support not only of the people thro\ighout the Southeastern States is being met with, but that the Senators aid Representatives: Of .many of the Northern States have Ro. 5.
