They were brought face to face with the Japanese Forces. The Japanese stuck to their position perhaps, for the reason that casualties will be heavy if an offensive is made. Another reason is because we wanted the Filipino boys to surrender for they were being made a stooge of the American Army. Our real enemy were the Americans and the British. Upang mapagpayuhang sumuko na lamang ang Hukbong Pilipino, ay di inalintana ng Sangay ng Pagpapalaganap ng Hukbong Hapones ang ulan ng punglo ng mga kalaban sa pagdadala nila ng kanilang "loudspeaker" at mga "polyeto". Makikita sa dalawang larawan sa itaas ang kanilang pagganap. For the purpose ot advising the Filipino Army to surrender, the Japanese Propaganda Corps, deiying raining shells and enemy fire, went with th»ir loudspeakers and handbills. This edition of Japanese propaganda magazine, “Shin Seiki” (text in Tagalog and English), published by the Department of Information, was brought back to America by Carr and Ruth Hooper who were interned at Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manila, Philippines from January 1942 to February 1945. Hand-written notes made by Carr refer to several photos and captions. The camp, also known as the Manila Internment Camp, was run by the Japanese military during World War II and housed over 3,000 internees from January 1942 until February 1945.
