EtAPULUAN SA KARAGATANG TIMOG TLE OF THE SOUTH SEA ISLANDS '"THE American War Lords are now hysterical with the repeated defeats of their Army and Navy. The American Public are not blindfolded any more by their cooked-up war news. They are making desperate efforts to retaliate by counter offensives. We are ever better prepared and want them to come on, just to be caught in our traps that is now being made ready by us in the Coral Sea and the Solomon Islands. Several encounters have already taken place and the battle is still raging and the results are as announced by the Imperial Headguarters. The Japanese Navy invariably come out with overwhelming victory. Let the United States do their bamboozling. Their present sea power is being dwindled. These photos show what happened at the Coral Sea during the early part of May and, the No. 1 and No. 2 Naval Engagements in the Solomon Islands. alos lumpo na. Ang katulong na o. sled already. In the First Solomon Sea Battle, the pyre of the enemy craft is seen in bold relief by the searchlights trained by our ships. . /?_'_•• Ang "Saratoga" samantalang naglalagablab at ma- lapit nang lumubog. In the Second Solomon Sea Battle, the enemy carriers and auxiliaries fight desperately while already being enveloped with fire. This edition of Japanese propaganda magazine, “Shin Seiki” (text in Tagalog and English), published by the Department of Information, was brought back to America by Carr and Ruth Hooper who were interned at Santo Tomas Internment Camp in Manila, Philippines from January 1942 to February 1945. Hand-written notes made by Carr refer to several photos and captions. The camp, also known as the Manila Internment Camp, was run by the Japanese military during World War II and housed over 3,000 internees from January 1942 until February 1945.
