115 Schuler Street Boonville, New York Dec. 18, 1949 Report of Doctor, Dec. 18th (Sunday), 1949 Temp. O.K. Gave shot to improve appetite. Lungs clearing up, but still some congestion. Getting stronger, but must conserve strength, and not get over-tired May go to bathroom twice a day, but must always have someone go with her. Otherwise use bedpan. May sit up for short-period, but not to get tired. Eat and drink as much as possible. Sleep as much as possible. Have some music (not radio because she doesn’t like it). Don’t talk too much, but listen to other people (for entertainment!) No visitors except family for brief periods. Doctor hopes to have her sitting up for Christmas. ------------------------------------------------------ Telegram from Virginia Moore. Changed plan. Leaving Capac 3:30 P.M. Dec. 23rd. In this letter of December 18, 1949, Margaret Kephart writes her brother Leonard Kephart (1892-1988) to give him an update on their mother’s condition and let him know of everyone’s travel plans. She sends him the report from the doctor and a telegram from Virginia Moore with her travel plans. She is relieving Barbara from night duty and caring for their mother until December 26th. She will send Leonard the daily doctor’s report to him as long as necessary.
