  • They will be back here next Fri. or Sat. & I am going home with them to stay over Thanks-g. Unless Roy Ferris gets leave to go home for Thanks day, the Chicago folks plan to be in Lansing. Probably Roy won’t get leave until he finishes boot training & has a Christmas leave. We all went to Boonville last Wed. as word came that Barbara was on the verge of having her appendix out. She had quite a hard attack & when it eased up, he took her to Rome before serious trouble developed. She had gone when we reached Boonville & was operated on that night; not that it was so acute as to make it necessary, but the surgeon could not do it Thur. Marnie phoned Thur. A.M. that it was over & everything all right. As we have not heard since, it probably is continuing in a satisfactory way. There has been — & still is — quite a comotion on the farm. Howard is closing his dairy & Alfred is leaving — probably not until Spring as this is not a good time to sell cows. I am assured that nothing will disturb me — this place is mine “as long as you want it.” Probably will not write more letters until I get to Lansing. Love to all Mama
