  • Jan. 31 1938 Dear Leonard. Between birthdays & graduations, letters have been going to 226 more than usual lately. Nothing in them of any account, except plenty of love. However I must not stop to sentimentalize. Speaking of children — Pat Johnson & Romeyn Hough expect to send daughters here to Cornell next year. With Sam Bird already here & perhaps Buddy I will have quite a 2nd generation. Which will be fine. Julia wanted me to tell you about 70 new scholarships to be established here. She did not know the details but thought they would start next Fall & some of them to be in engineering. I can find out for you, if you want me to, but think it better for now to write to the Univ. Have you ever sent your African story to the Sun. Magazine section of the Herald-Tribune. They have some continued stories much better than the American or Sat. Post. Why don’t you try all of them, even if you have already tried them. It all depends on who reads them. A new reader might take it. Lucy ran across a book called — Camping Out & Woodcraft Two Editions in One Edited by F.H. Cheley & P.D. Fagans Published by Halcyon House N.Y.
