  • 3 :ST IN KNOXVILLE course of this club was designed by Donald Ross. A delightful view of the Great Smoky Mountains may be obtained from the clubhouse. It is reached by following state highway No. 9. CHEROKEE COUNTRY CLUB—Located four miles west of the city on the Lyon's View pike, this club has a site that overlooks the Horseshoe Bend of the Tennessee river. A new clubhouse is nearing completion. Here is another eighteen hole golf course designed by Donald Ross. STERCHI PARK—This beautiful park, formerly known as Chilhowee park, consists of 69 acres of shaded slopes and lakes, located on the Burlington car line at the end of Magnolia avenue, three miles from the business district. It is operated during the summer as an amusement park and in the fall the East Tennessee Division Fair is held there. MARBLE QUARRIES—One of the quarries producing the famous Tennessee marble is located inside the corporate limits of Knoxville. Others are located in the Asbury district, five miles east of the city near the forks of the Holston and French Board rivers. They are reached from state highway No. 9, turning right from this highway at the first macadam road after crossing Boyd's Bridge. The GREAT SMOKIES—The 100-mile Scenic Loop througr the Great Smoky Mountains starts and ends at Knoxville. Cross the Tennessee River Bridge and turn to the left to go by way of Sevierville or to the right to go by Maryville. A good view of the mountains may be obtained from the top of the General Building, Morningside Heights, or The Highland Memorial Cemetery. .--,. ,,.
