C, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A Cox and husband of Genevieve Freeman Cox. Inducted May 30, 1942. Trained as member of War Dept., General Staff of General Marshall. Served in American, European, North African, Persian Gulf, China-Burma, India, and Southwest Pacific. Citations or medals: Distinguished Service Cross, Legion of Merit, Silver Star, French War Cross, and French Foureguerre. Served on the staffs of Generals Marshall, Eisenhour, Bradley, and Montgomery. Assisted in the planning of all World War II battles except the Battle of Japan. PFC. CHARLES B. CRAWFORD, Sylva, N. Citations and medals: Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation. Served with 78th Lightning Division Combat Engrs. Won 3 Battle Stars for combat in battle of Ardennes, Rhineland ,and Germany. Wounded in Germany in April, 1945, returning to the U. S. in July. Discharged in Oct. 26, 1945. S 1/c RAY ELIGAH CROWE, Tuckaseigee, N. C, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stiles Crowe. Inducted Nov. 25, 1943.
