Citations or medals: European-African, Asiatic-Pacific, 2 Battle Stars. Philippine Liberation, Navy Unit Commendation, and Victory Medal. Discharged Jan. 28, 1946. S/SGT. CLIFFORD CAGLE, Greens Creek, N. C, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Cagle. Inducted Feb. 14, 1942; Trained at Camp Shelby, Miss. Served in the Pacific Theatre of War. Citatins or medals. Purple Heart, 2 Clusters, Infantry Combat Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific with 3 Stars, and Philippine Liberation with 1 Star. Discharged July 30, 1945. PFC. JAMES P. CAGLE, Greens Creek, N. C., son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Cagle. Inducted Oct. 10, 1941. Trained at Camp Lee, Va. Served in Iceland and European Theatre of Operations. Citations or medals: European Theatre of Operations Ribbon with 5 Battle Stars, Pre-Pearl Harbor Ribbon, and Victory Ribbon. Discharged Sept. 27, 1945. PFC. FLOYD E. GARDEN, Sylva, N. C, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Carden. Inducted Jan. 15, 1942. Trained at Jackson, Miss. Served in the Canal Zone. Received American Theatre Service Medal, Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Discharged Nov. 2, 1945. PFC. CLYDE CARROLL, Speedwell N. C, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Carroll. Inducted June 22, 1942. Trained at Camp Rucker, Ala., Tennessee Manoeuvers, Camp Beale. Served in the Pacific Theatre of War. 81st Wildcat Division. Citations or medals: Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal. Wounded on Palan Islands invasion. Discharged May 25, 1945. PVT. Trained at Camp Roberts, Calif. Served in the European Theatre of War. Received 3 Battle Stars. One of the hardest battles in which he participated was the taking of Sitchie. Discharged Dec. 1, 1945. MAX AUBREY CLAYTON. Sylva, N. C, son of Mr. Tom Clayton. Inducted Aug. 3, 1943. Trained at Camp Grube, Okla. Served in the Pacific Theatre of War. Received the Combat Infantry Badge. Fought with the 7th Division in two battles, Leyte, P. I., and Okinawa, then moved to Korea. Discharged Jan. 31, 1946. S/SGT. TOM CLAYTON, Sylva, N. C. Inducted Mar. 3, 1943. (34th Div.) Trained at Fort Jackson, S. C. Served in the European Theatre of War. Citations or medals: Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Arrowhead (Anzio), 3 Campaign Stars, and Combat Infantry Badge. Wounded at Cassino, Anzio Beachhead and Gothic Line. Discharged Nov. 4, 1945. PVT. JAMES R. CLUBB, Waynesville, N. O, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Clubb and husband of Louise Clubb. Inducted Feb. 12, 1945. C, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Collins and husband of Pauline Mills Collins. Inducted June 5, 1941. Trained at Camp Collan, San Diego, Calif. Served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of War. Citations or medals: Good Conduct, American Defense with 1 Bronze Star, Asiatic-Pacific with 2 Bronze Stars. Stationed at Hickam Field during the attack on Pearl Harbor and later served with the 854th Anti-Aircraft Battalion in the Invasion of Saipan. Discharged May 23, 1945. PFC. MITCHEL M.
