  • Even though folks over at McClure might doubt it, this is the way Blaine spent most of his leisure time during his recent visit to Hazel Creek. He looks a little awkward and self- conscious here, but you ought to have seen him after a little practice. HAZEL CREEK (Concluded) Proctor basket ball boys had a little surprise when they went to Ritter to meet their opponents, the Bryson City team. They met the girls team that had come instead of the boys and had a grand hike up to Proctor. All the operation closed down a half day Saturday to see the game. Bryson City went away victorious. The Judson basket ball boys came the following Saturday and they too were victors. We are not in the least discouraged, for there are yet several games to be played on our home grounds. Wednesday evening, March 28th, the Proctor Social Club gave a farewell entertainment in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Weaver, who were leaving for McClure. A good old- time square dance was enjoyed, followed by refreshments. The Entertainment Committee of the Baptist Young People's Union, gave a very interesting program at their social Friday, March 16th. Of course you heard of the catastrophe that happened when a ship load of high explosive blew up off the coast of Labrador, and caused such a snow storm,—well, Proctor witnessed a similar one on Sunday, March 10th. The sun shone so warm that Proctor baseball team came out in full array. That evening, before the game had finished, the wind began to blow and by morning we had two inches of snow. It might have not been due to the ball team, however, for we have the best looking team we have had in Proctor for many a season. ;b THE PROCTOR BASKET BALL TEAM Bottom Row, left to right: Mae Medford, Hattie Cable, Winnie Vance. Top Row: Alice Birchfield, Mary Crisp. THE BRYSON CITY TEAM Note the "rooter" in the left background, which proves that the whole town enjoys our Saturday afternoon basket ball games. We are undecided as to whether the scenery or the group is the best of this picture, but as it is so seldom that we ever get a photo of ourself that does us justice, we can't resist the temptation to have this one published. It contains, beside ourself (T. G. Bonallo), J. B. Fullerton, B. E. Mansberger, and the Bonallo kids, including the Hazel Creek edition. Ten
