  • on her robes of light, come forth from her palace in the sun and tiptoe on the misty mountain top. whilst night fled before her glorious face to his bed chamber at] the pole, as she lighted the beautiful river and the green vale where I was born and played in childhood with a smile of sunshine. "Oh beautiful land of the mountains with thy sun- painted cliffs, how can I ever forget thee!" Leave the Saunders System at 1 P. M. on Saturday. The lodging for the night will be about a dollar, and transportation will probably cost about the price of the round-trip to Asheville. Leaders: MAYOR JAMES A. TRENT (3-6427) and CHARLES T. ALEXANDER (24171). June 5 PEP MEETING AT THE Y. M. C. A. On June 12 to 14, we are to be hosts to the Appalachian Trail Conference, a group of probably several hundred outdoor enthusiasts from up and down the Atlantic seaboard. This important occasion brings honor and widespread recognition to our club, and constitutes for us a high privilege and a challenge to which we cannot fail to respond. The responsibility for the success of this gathering rests largely on the shoulders of the members of our club, since it is impossible and undesirable that a few individuals should assume it all. Our guests, especially those from the more northern part of the Trail, will be anticipating the proverbial southern hospitatlity. Let it be our pride and our pleasure to fulfill this anticipation. In order to organize our group and discuss our plans for the conference, we shall meet at the Y. M. C. A. on the evening of June 5th. It is important that all members be present who will be able to attend the Conference meetings and hikes the following week. We must be fully informed not only of the purpose and scope of the Conference, but of our responsibilities as individuals in trying to make the meetings happy and memorable occasions. Meet at the Y. M. C. A. at 7:30 P. M. Bring bath- 30
