  • The longer I stay on this planet, The more I learn And the less I like. Remember kids: It may first appear as my problem, But closer inspection reveals it to be your problem as well. And before any bridges are crossed, We have to deal with the Here and Now Instead of being defiant. A scattered nation of co-dependent independents Surviving on the rim of the Apocalypse As the darkness engulfs us, takes us in And tries to claim us without question. How many will go quietly, defiance absent ? Flag of Sodomy flies high over the cities... Are you ready to kill The ones who hide in the hills ? Such a perfect being we are, Everything we do is Theater. Our beautiful faces locked in a hot steaming kiss With one of our own gender. We walk the city streets, we blend. And nobody notices, Only when we're dancing Then they quickly turn away. I predict that I'll die very soon. I don't want to live to see the end of the world, And I know that it's coming. It's just a matter of time Before every thing and every one perishes, Before plague and disaster claim the land, And Earth becomes a constant state of Change, The upper and outer crust melting. A possible Pangea forming once again Before the planet splits apart And the hot molten core crashes with the Sun To form what will be called "Hell" As the souls are judged, then condemned. We are evolutionary creatures, But how can we adapt to a pain That will last forever ? Hell will house the worst of the worst And all of those who follow. We discuss Hell Because Heaven is so far out of reach. What happens when Believing just doesn't cut it ? When you need to know Whether or not you're doing a good job, Needing some reassurance in your crisis of Faith ? A quiet prayer whispered To get out of this life. To run to your Creator, defenseless and with pain, Crying "I'm sorry that I've failed you I My soul is at your disposal. Have mercy on me." To make peace with my God, To say that I'm not a bad person, That I try to make good judgments, Defined according to laws older than Time And so hard to follow. It's these Sexual, Moral, and Ethical calls. It's walking into a bar And seeing two beautiful women french-kissing After you've been on a Lifetime losing streak. It's reaching for the pills Halfway in mid-sentence, Knowing that you're finally doing it, And that there's nothing left to do But follow through. goodbye Copyright 1995 by Williams 2/2/95
